In order to check, How much should I weigh?, you need to know your height. First, tape an 11 ½ “ x 8” piece of paper to a wall in an area where you can see the mark for your height.

Using a pencil, mark on the paper on the wall and at the top of your head to mark your height.   Take your shoes off before checking your height.

Measure the distance from the floor to the mark you made on the paper that is on the wall. On another piece of paper write the measurement.   Using a bathroom scale check how much you weigh.   Subtract a few pounds for your clothes.

To check out the range for what you should weigh you will need to check a height weight table. This table can be found on the Internet. Use a search engine and search for the term “height weight” table.

What is my Body Mass Index Number

I recommend that you use Wikipedia’s Body Mass Index table (BMI) as it is very complete with all the necessary information you need for a complete evaluation of your height and weight.  You may also use the search engines Yahoo, Google or another search engine if you choose.

Use your BMI measurement to answer the question of what you should weigh.  BMI is an indicator of the amount of fat you have on your body.   The indicator on the table may say that you are severely thin, normal, obese class I, obese class II or obese class III.

A BMI for a person with average weight is between 18.5 and 24.9.  A person with a BMI of between 18.5 and 22.9 have a low risk of developing heart disease or diabetes.
