Eat a low fat breakfast. It is an important step in reducing the fat in your diet. As well as being a necessary source of vitamins and minerals, a breakfast consisting of whole-grain cereal with fat-free or low-fat milk, fruit and yogurt will maintain your blood sugar levels.

 

Drink plenty of water. Water is necessary for digestion.  Be careful not to confuse thirst for hunger.   Be aware that this may happen and have a bottle of water close by and drink it often.  You will probably be eating less as you drink more water.

 

Replace at least one meat dish with a vegetarian meal each week. A hearty three-bean chili or salad might be just the thing, or maybe some pasta with roasted vegetables.

 

Eat fish at least once and preferably twice a week. Many fish are low in fat, and fish that have higher concentration of fat, such as salmon, contain wholesome omega-3 fatty acids. Fish are a very healthy addition to reducing your fat intake.

 

Purchase a cookbook that has low fat, low sugar and low carbohydrate recipes.  Several of the sugar substitutes have their own cookbooks.  You can find many of these delicious recipes on the Internet.   Do a search using one of the search engines for one or more of the companies that sell sugar substitutes. 

 

Then, when you are on their website, look for your favorite recipes.  You may be amazed at how delicious they are.   While you are on the sugar substitute web site also look to see what other recipes interest you.  You can have a lot of fun testing new recipes for yourself and your family.  Low sugar foods are an important part of a low fat diet.

 

Eat healthy snacks. When one does get an attack of the munchies, ensure one reach for healthy and delicious snacks such as fruit, low-fat yogurt, whole-grain crackers, air-popped popcorn or raw veggies. A casual cookie or chocolates are ok, but only eat them occasionally, as they are almost always high in sugar and calories.

Keep them as special treats.  If you deny yourself completely, you may just find yourself binge eating sweets and snacks.   Keep only small quantities of snacks that are high in sugar and calories around the house.  This way you won’t be tempted to have a late night snack and blow your diet.
